I have been teaching Anatomy and Physiology at the college level for over 15 years, in a number of different academic settings. I have reviewed numerous textbooks, and this is by far the clearest and BEST book I have ever seen. Why? Because it is the most clearly written, has wonderful graphics that are complete without being overwhelming, and does not have too much detail. I do know "detail" very well (have a Ph.D. in physiology) but the students need to get the big picture so that the details make sense. Most A&P texts are not really that helpful to the students, because they are overwhelming.I think many faculty would not consider this book for a 2 semester A&P course, because it is not complete enough, or comprehensive enough. I think that is a mistake! I have seen many students struggle and flounder in A&P, swamped by the sheer quantity of material. They truly need a very accessible textbook - and that is just what this is. I have loaned this book out to many, many students - and every time the book comes back and the student raves about it. Most often I have had to teach using a bigger, more traditional textbook - not by choice, but because the text is chosen by a committee. If I could give this book 6 or 7 stars, I would. Whether you are a teacher or a student, please do yourself a favor and check this book out. You will be very glad you did.
