This applicator makes for a largely mess free application. The soft sponge makes it easy to get into small spaces and feels comfortable on the skin. The reservoir is easy to fill and more importantly, easy to clean. It's important to note that the foam applicator is NOT dishwasher safe, although the lid and body are.I'm deducting a star for two reasons. One, while the twist lock helps to ensure that you don't accidentally dispense product in your bag, it's tough to operate. I frequently accidentally unscrew the lid instead of moving the twist lock. Two, while they tout the replicability of the foam applicator, they don't actually seem to sell this part anywhere. I suspect that after a season of usage, the foam will either disintegrate, fully detach from the body, or just become so grungy that it's gross to use. This is both an expensive and bulky product to not be usable for years, so I hope they eventually sell this replacement part.
